January 27th is a day for the world to remember the six million Jews and millions of other minorities who were killed by the Nazis during World War II. Although Holocaust Memorial Day is a UK-based commemoration, Jan 27th is the International Holocaust Remembrance Day for both the European Union and the United Nations, which has led to many European nations sharing the same memorial day. Jan 27th also marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, which was the largest Nazi death camp.
